You are passing through several steps after Ableton: back to Mixer, out to Preamp, into Wirecast. What are you doing in Ableton? Mixing? Processing (compression)? Also not something I'm well versed in, though I've used one program a little (very confusing).

I also see some threads describing ways to get Ableton's output into Wirecast on Windows using virtual audio paths. I wasn't familiar with Ableton, but from their web site it looks like a mixing/processing program that has plenty of capability to screw up sound (or make it great). I'll have to take your word for it that it's better 'from Ableton'.
